Ask a Master Gardener Information Booths

In a nutshell…

Description:
Staffing a public information booth at a variety of sites from May through September at local nurseries (other than Santa Fe Greenhouses), special community events or other appropriate locations.
Location:
Booths are organized at Newman's, Agua Fria nursery and Paynes in May and June and perhaps in late summer or early fall. Other locations will be determined as they arise, and interested volunteers will be notified.
Goal:
To provide information to the public about gardening in and around Santa Fe and to educate the public about the Master Gardener program and the SFMGA, with the hope of expanding membership. Providing an information booth at a wider variety of venues will help to establish SFMGA as a conveniently available community resource.
Looking for volunteers who…
  1. …Enjoy interacting with the public in a variety of settings, can answer general gardening questions and will provide information about the Master Gardener Program.
  2. …Will set up the booth, take down the materials, and track and follow up on any inquiries received or questions that need further research to be answered.
  3. Also looking for a few volunteers who are willing to serve as a team leader for one month. This entails assisting the Project Leaders in ensuring that booth handouts are regularly stocked and all supplies and equipment are successfully transferred to the volunteers working the next booth shift.
Work Schedule:
Initially, three-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays in May and June at several local nurseries. There will be an attempt to set up some weekday shifts, if possible. Shift times are not yet determined, but likely to begin mid- or late-morning or early afternoon. Interested volunteers will be notified of times and locations as needed.
Additional Info:
Each shift will be staffed by a minimum of two people, but preferably three, with at least one Master Gardener per shift.
