- Design and build a new demonstration garden to educate the public on gardening in the harsh semi-arid Eldorado environment.
- Location:
- (Eldorado, 12 miles SE of Santa Fe off Rte. 285.) In the open space behind the railroad depot at the Eldorado Community Center, One Hacienda Loop
- Goal:
- Year 1: Design and establish the new demonstration garden.
- Looking for volunteers who…
- …want to create a new garden from the ground up by helping to design the garden
layout, contour land, prepare soil, and plant trees, shrubs and perennials with attendant above-ground irrigation. Work with grounds crew to
oversee placement of hardscape including large boulders and excavation for and laying of slate walkways. Create signage for exhibits. Prepare
handouts and teaching materials to explain water-wise gardening principles with step-by-step instruction for design and care of a residential garden.
