An orchard, restored
The Santa Fe Master Gardeners played a long-standing role in restoring the orchard at El Rancho de las Golondrinas. After rootstock planting in April, 2000, maintenance was brought up to a self-sustaining orchard by 2005.
Beginning in 2006, we kept Master Gardeners involved with the site at 334 Los Piños Road in other ways.
The Gardening Laboratory involved a three-hour class held once a month. Initially, Julie Anna taught this class, and later, Master Gardeners took on this role.
SFMGA partnered with El Rancho de Las Golondrinas in support of the museum's mission of implementing a gardening education for the community by providing a gardening laboratory of plant information and hands on experience in the areas of plant science including, but not limited to, apple orchards, ornamental and herb gardens, vineyards and roses.
