- Project:
- Habitat for Humanity® Landscaping
- Description:
- Landscape and complete Habitat for Humanity homes. Grade (rake and shovel). Install border boards. Dig and plant
about 10 shrubs and one tree. Rake in a gravel mulch, and water. Give homeowners plant care information.
- Locations:
- Terra Contenta off Jaguar Road, and Aldea off Rt. 599 in Northwest Santa Fe
- Goal:
- Help the new homeowner set up landscaping which enhances neighborhood home values and quality of life. Teach the
homeowner to care for the new plantings. Promote water-wise plantings.
- Looking for volunteers who…
- …don’t mind getting a little dirty and a little sore for a good cause. Dig and water. Pick
up tools. Water and check on plantings in cases where the new owner hasn’t moved in yet. Prepare information for the new homeowner,
including plant care and water conservation. Use Spanish-language to communicate with the new homeowner.
- Work Schedule:
- Monthly, April into October. We begin at 8AM, have breaks and generally finish up by 3PM. We also need
volunteers who can work half days. I try to alternate weekdays and weekends to accommodate schedules.
- Additional Info:
- Scheduling depends on house completion and dedication deadlines.
- We send out email
announcements for the upcoming projects, so we need current e-mail addresses.
